Following the Order of the Inspector-General of Police against the pro-Biafra activists in all parts of Nigeria who the Police described as causing violence and social disorder as well as the ban placed particularly on the Indigenous People of Biafra in Anambra State, the Indigenous People of Biafra in the Suit No FHC/OW/CS/192/2013 in the Federal High Court Owerri have called me to enquire whether the Police Order and Ban affected them. The answer is NO. The Indigenous People of Biafra who are in Court with the Federal Republic of Nigeria and the Attorney-General of the Federation are not affected by the Police Order and Ban. The next court hearing is on 22 Sept 2015. All the Indigenous People of Biafra who are represented by Bilie Human Rights Initiative in Court are the Claimants while Nigeria and the Attorney-General of the Federation are the Defendants. The Defendants in a case cannot arrest the Claimants because both parties are before the Court. This is called judicial immunity. All the Indigenous People of Biafra who are following us in the due process of law are protected.
The Police are clamping down on the people who are impersonating the Claimants in the case, who are inciting violence through their Radio Station and raining abuses and insults on constituted authorities. The Police described this behaviour as inciting violence and causing social disorder. By the rule of law, as I am the Solicitor for Indigenous People of Biafra in the ongoing case, all the Biafrans in that case are my clients. The Police cannot arrest my clients for taking Nigeria and the Attorney-General to Court. All my clients are protected.
VERIFICATION OF IDENTITY:
In view of the confusion caused by the people who registered our name, INDIGENOUS PEOPLE OF BIAFRA (IPOB), as a Company in England and came to impersonate us in Nigeria, knowing that this is the same name that the Court has on record, we have decided to carry out an Identity Verification Exercise. We have decided to change and replace our Identity Card. The previous Identity Cards are hereby declared invalid, null and void. The Inspector-General of Police and all Law Enforcement Officers shall be notified immediately. Now therefore, all the Indigenous People of Biafra who are represented by Bilie Human Rights Initiative in the ongoing case are required to return their old Identity Cards to be replaced with new Biometric Identity Cards issued under our hand and seal.
Please be guided accordingly.

In many places in Igboland, Anambra mostly, the python is regarded as a ‘sacred being’ which no one is expected to kill, harm or maltreat. It is an age-long observance because to most Igbo communities, Eke or python is seen as the symbol of the sea or river goddess. It protects and provides for the people, both in terms of wealth, fertility and long life. To the people, eke is a harmless ‘being’ and it is actually harmless to those who do not kill it. To them, eke symbolises peace, prosperity and abundance, especially in the waters.
At Umuohia, Okija, in Ihiala local government area of Anambra state, a man called Ukata Nnanna in an interview gave a clearer picture of why the eke has come to be regarded as being so sacred and in some places is worshipped as a goddess. Aguata,Idemmiri,Orumba, etc,it is like covernant made with spirits of the land and the living of the land,
“The story of eke we have here is sacred and different. But before we go on, it is good to point out that the mystery surrounding eke is greater than most of us can actually understand. Our own case is quite peculiar. In the olden days, our people used to provide shelter for strangers. This was how the issue of eke became a symbol of respect and regards here in our village”, Nnanna said, grinning and shaking his head repeatedly.
EKE“There was one certain aged widow who was said to have been driven away by her husband people. She set out on a journey, a journey she did not know where it would take her. When she got to Umuohia, Okija, she stopped and begged our people to provide a place for her to rest her feet. She was by then too tired to continue on her way.
“Our people did not only give her a place to settle down, she was also asked to remain with us. Without knowing it, our people had given shelter and hope to a woman with plenty of mysterious powers. Before the woman died she made a lot of promises to our people. In the first place she asked that her house be built by the riverside. No one knew why she made that sort of request. But then at her death she decreed that no Umuohia woman should be maltreated by her husband people. And wherever she is married to, on the first night of her arrival, a python would appear to encourage and strengthen her. To date, this situation still exists; that once an Umuohi woman is being threatened at her husband’s place, a python appears, sometimes a very big one that would frighten people out of their wits. For this reason, a lot of people are sceptical about marrying an Umuohi woman.
“The woman did not even die. She turned into eke. She lives inside the Okpu stream or if you like river, which is along Owerri-Onitsha road, Anambra state. There you can see this big python and it comes out once the sun is out to suntan. This is what it does everyday. It is so huge that a lot of people are scared of it,” Nnanna stressed. “But we the Umuohi people are not,” he boasted.
The python which is called eke ogwugwu-mili therefore is said to be the mother of all the pythons that litter the length and breath of Igboland. Today, anyone who kills or maims eke either knowingly or unknowingly is compelled to buy all the necessary materials with which to bury it. These range from white cloth, to coffin, kola nuts, white chalk and so on. The coffin would be placed in a conspicuous place where passers-by are wont to pay condolences and show some sign of remorse. Where one fails to bury the eke in the traditional way, more stringent punishments will be placed on him and members of his family. Sometimes he would be ostracised or banished from the land depending on the circumstances of the death of the python. Some even have small pox sickness placed on them.
It is because of all these that eke does not bite the natives of Okija and other places where these observances are made. If eke bites one by error, all it does is to hiss, and then the bite will have no effect on the person. Even then, Christians also obey the law; they too do not kill eke. Why would anyone kill it when it does not harm him? Some people would often ask. Eke is a common sight in many places in Igboland where they are at liberty to crawl without let or hindrance. There is the eke Idemili (for Idemili, river). There is also eke Ogba which is supposed to be the king of all the pythons. That one lives inside huge forests and so has no contact with human civilization.
Each area gives the eke a name according to what it does for them and the deity it represents. For some, it is eke atamili’ or eke nkwo ocha, all in the name of what place it has in their communal lifestyle and existence. Today at Umuohia, Okija, eke still remains their symbol, some kind of rallying point. And you are not expected to treat their daughters with disdain and disrespect. Many people have many problems today is because they have done against the spirits will, but they must read this history, and understand it well, and then respect it,and their problems will be solved
An Abuja-based lawyer, Dim-Udebuani Marcel, has sued President Muhammadu Buhari over recent appointments made by the president.
Mr. Buhari has been accused of favouring a section of the country against in the appointments he has so far made.
In a suit filed on August 31, with number FHC/ABJ/CS/732/2015, Mr. Marcel accused the president of marginalizing the South East geopolitical zone, which has not received any appointment from the Buhari government yet.
The president and the Federal Character Commission are joined as defendants.
Mr. Marcel’s counsel, Jude Ifesemen, said the plaintiff wants the court to determine whether the 25 important appointments made by President Buhari were done against the spirit of constitutionally guaranteed federal character.
The court will decide “whether the exclusion of South East geo-political zone in the 25 appointments made so far by the 1st defendant is unconstitutional and divisive?” Mr. Marcel said.
He also sought to determine whether there are no qualified or corrupt free persons from the South East region.
The court will as well decide “Whether the 2nd defendant has in the circumstance of this case, discharged its statutory duties under paragraph 8(1), (a), (b) and (c) of the Third Schedule to the 1999 constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria (as amended)”.
Mr. Marcel also prayed the court for an order compelling the president to reverse the appointments made so far and to observe and comply with the principle of Federal Character as enshrined in the constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria 1999.
He also sought an order of court compelling the Chairman, Federal Character Commission, Oba Abdul-raheem to invoke paragraph 8(1) (c) of the Third Schedule to the 1999 constitution and order of court declaring all the appointments so far made null and void for violating the federal character.
The suit was supported with 23 paragraph affidavit deposed to by the plaintiff.
A date is yet to be fixed for hearing on the case.
Mr. Buhari has come under fire for what many see as lopsided appointments with more slots apparently going to the northern region. The president is from Katsina state in Nigeria’s northern region.
Press Release from the Leader of Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB)—Mazi Nnamdi Kanu:
“NIGERIAN STATE CARRIES OUT MAJOR TERRORIST ACT IN ONITSHA RESULTING IN THE DEATH OF MANY CIVILIANS”
On my way back to the United Kingdom from Biafraland on the afternoon of Sunday 30th of August 2015 the Nigerian state and its Head of State commissioned and executed a grievious act of terrorism against defenseless civilians going about their lawful duties. This brazen act of cowardice by the Islamic Nigerian Government headed by Muhamadu Buhari is evil and should be condemned by every right thinking civilised government of the world that believes in the sanctity of human life.
That this massacre happened under the rule of Buhari is not a surprise because his record for murder and terror sponsorship is there for all to see. Buhari’s stated aim is to spread Sharia and propagate Islam to all corners of Nigeria because he feels its his divine religious duty to do so. His preferred method for doing this is through mass killings, terrorism and fear which was evident in Onitsha on Sunday.
We are calling on conscientious governments of the world to hold Buhari to account for the massacre of Biafrans (IPOB) at Onitsha on 30th of August 2015 or his barbarism will continue. Equally we have demanded that the Islamic Government of Buhari tell the world exactly what the people who were executed in cold blood did wrong to warrant such primitive brutality at the hands of the Nigerian soldiers. They were simply exercising their right to freely associate and did nothing that could be construed as provocation or unlawful, the videos are there to prove it. The question is, in what way did the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) on a peaceful evangelism break the law to deserve death at the hands of the Nigerian government?
Failure by Buhari and his government to provide the rationale behind the slaughter of unarmed and defenseless civilians will leave us with no option than to deploy every means in our capacity to seek redress and our own self defense in the face of state sponsored murder and intimidation.
For far too long Biafrans have remained the subject of atrocious massacres by Islamic Hausa/Fulani dominated Nigeria Armed Forces. This situation is about to change as these senseless killings of innocent people will henceforth be resisted. The consequences and fall out from this cowardly massacre by Nigerian government of Muhammadu Buhari on Sunday in Onitsha will echo in history and nobody should hold Biafrans responsible for what will happen.
They the Nigerian State have sowed the wind, they must surely harvest the whirlwind. Biafra or Death!!!
